Fooling Christians? Are they?!

I saw this thing on GOD TV while browsing the channels , it left me speechless! Rory and Wendy, who are the founders of this so called”Missions week” are the main ones behind this. “Missions week” is a week announced by GOD TV people in which people are to contribute money to them which, as they promise, God will return them with much more. People are giving money to help GOD TV expand their business, their channel. The way they brain-washed the viewers was cool. Even I believed their words for a while until I switched off the TV and gave it a rational thought!!!

So, here is how they did it—-

A man who was some preist or maybe father of a church had come and said that “GOD had some special days like Easter, Passover, etc. and people should never stand empty-handed in front of GOD on passover. So, the passover is approaching and if you will give a passover offering to GOD of $1 million, he will return you $10 million.

GOD said in Bible and exodus that if you build an Altar, I will meet you there, give you my name there and Bless you there. So, here I am building an Altar. GOD will tell me secrets from heaven here. GOD says, If you stand before me with an offering I will bless you in 7 ways–

1. I’ll dispatch an angel which will live with you for 1 year and guide you.

2. I’ll take care of your enemies.

3. I’ll bless you with bread and water.

4. I’ll take sickness away from you.

5. I’ll extend your life.

6. i’ll increase your inheritance.

7. I dun remember the 7th one, srry, that GOD TV guy said something here but i have forgotten.

Now you’ll say, How can I touch this Altar? I want the 7 blessings. Plz tell me. wait, you can! If you have a phone, lay your hands on it. Dial the number on your screens. Have an agreement with God that GOD, I WILL GIVE $100 A MONTH TO GOD TV. GIVE ME MY ANGEL. LET ME BE BLESSED! U will connect to the operator who will bring your pledge in the form of a print out here and I will keep that on the altar.

You don’t believe me! You must be thinking this is not true. But this is. There was a lady in my church in Chicago. She was Suffering from Financial crisis. She gave me all her $77 on passover to offer it to God. Next day she got a call from a lawyer that one of her relatives had died in Arizona and she had inherrited $450,000. She called me and said that she was BLESSED. The angel God had dispatched did it.

So, u’ll also be blessed. Just make your pledge and send us the money.”

This guy also quoted a zillion examples from Bible and exodus. He was speaking in a very influencial way. Anyone could be brain-washed. All the 20 phone operators were busy throughout. People were sending HUGE AMOUNTS from all over the world!

I don’t know if this was right or wrong. Was he fooling Christians or not? I can’t say! Your opinions are required. Do pour in your views. ADIOS.

  1. Yes, they are definitely and beyond doubt fooling them.

What will happen if they ask them to kill their children for GOD like Abraham was asked ?

If I tell anybody that GOD asked me to kill my children, they will immediately put me in the straight jacket. At the same time they think highly of Abraham who wanted to obey GOD and was about to slaughter his own child for him !!!!

  2. Yeah, there is no extent to blind faith. i can’t believe such orthodox people still exist!

  3. We must give money to the church. It is written in the Bible and we are always searching for excuses not to do it. However I believe that giving should be your own decision and you should not be brainwashed into doing it. Not for a television show at least.

Did they give any indication of how the money was going to be spent? Are they going to give to the poor, pay for people to go overseas and preach the gospel? cause that does indeed make a difference.

I am also always afraid to give money, i amafraid that it may all be a scheme using our emotions to milk a few cents out of us.

Saying that i also need to stress the following point: God knows with which intention you gave the money, it does not matter what the people from the TV show does with it. God sees that you are willing to give and i believe you will be blessed because of it. If these people are currupt , they will be dealt with when the time comes.

    thanks:)

  4. Yes, it’s the thought that counts…

…and the recipients who will benefit. (yes, that’s supposed to be a punchline)

  5. You people mean that God will bless you only if you GIVE MONEY! why do we need to give money to be blessed? I’m not a christian so i dont know much about it but i think that praying and thanking God twice a day and helping the needy should be enough to get blessed.
Anyways, the GOD TV people said that they will use the money to extend their channel in parts of Africa. They had a budget of 12000$ but they got 100 times the amount and i am sure that they wont return the rest.

  6. Actually, it’s more of the virtue of charity. We Christians are taught to be charitable beings. By giving material goods – to your disadvantage and to the advantage of others – with full consent, you’d be practicing charity.

So, if someone asks points a gun at me, then asks me money, the best thing to do would be to give money because I want to help the poor man out. The worse thing I could do is if I give him money because I’m afraid I might die – that’s just selfish. The worst thing I could do is that if I don’t give money because I’m greedy – I’m already failing to practice charity, and, more to the point, I’d end up dead.

  7. Well, thats a new thing to me, seems interesting. Though I still wonder, How the heck can giving money to a TV channel for expanding it help us. I mean, they sure have got a lot of funds and should expand their business themselves. anyways, talking about the gunman asking for money, I guess I would’ve given the money for my life (falling in the worse category). but now, i suppose, i’ll think over this and u seem to be right. Will try to come into the BEST category…..
    :-)

  8. All religions teach good things. It’s just that people are too nitpicky on how to do good things that causes conflict.

  9. Well, yeah, all religions do teach good things. Only the way varies.
I feel that the cause of conflict is due to religious orthodoxy and fanactism. The feeling that one’s religion is superior than others. I live in India and we have over 2 dozen religions here. many have originated in India only. Apart from this we have MANY sects. People do live in harmony but some orthodox feelings have given rise to deadly communal riots in the past.
some years back Hindus killed 2000 Muslims in a state of India. The result being that I no longer feel safe while travelling with an unknown Muslim and vice-versa.
I just don’t know why do we need to follow a religion so madly!

  10. I came here exploring after someone posted Shakti’s proof for the existence of god on reddit. I’ve spent most of my life (I’m 52) studying the religions of mankind, formally and informally, so I must stop and say one thing.

‘Well, yeah, all religions do teach good things. Only the way varies.’ Sums it all up perfectly…well said Shakti Mehra…read lots of history, it’s fun, goodluck to you and your friends.

  11. Well, Thanx Micheal. Anyway, I have never read anything on religion. I live in India, which is a home to MANY MANY religions, so I just analyse the reasons of coflicts and there I get my answer. Stay tuned………

  12. hey .. was jus reading some of the comments here … iv been a christian for over 5 years and watch GOD tv frequently . tell u wat is they main issue is whether u really know GOD or not . If u really want to find God and know him , then ask the all powerful GOD of this universe to show himself to u ….. believe me , he will !!!! just that u must seek truly seek him from ur heart ……….!!

  13. The GOD will show himself????? That sounds really eerie. Can you explain that. why do u say so? read another set of comments on my post “GOD EXISTS OR NOT”. we are still debating on His existence and u say that he wil show himself!!!!!!

  14. Shakti, do you realize that it’s not the missions week you object to, it’s faith.

I would advice you to ask honest questions, a childish curiosity, not satanic scorn. think twice lest you be a tool for evil.

try this on for size. imagine a mannequin designed in such a way that when stabbed it bends down, twists its face and screams as if in pain. did it feel pain? did it need to.
the world tells you that you are a machine, biological in nature but a machine nonetheless. like the mannequin a machine has no need for sensation. yet you are.

don’t have a hateful heart :) God loves you even though you are so sure ‘he’ doesn’t exist.
